¡Ü How should I store my MAPTrix¢â?
Recommended storage conditions can be found on all product datasheets. Always refer to the datasheet for the most up-to-date information. Generally, our product does not contain any kind of preservative such as sodium azide or thimerosal then we will recommend storage at 2~8¨¬C.
¡Ü My MAPTrix¢â was shipped without ice but the recommended storage conditions are listed as 2~8¨¬C, will the activity have been affected?
No. A variety of MAPTrix¢â shipped to customers all over the world at ambient temperature. Loss of activity has never been a problem. However, MAPTrix¢â should immediately be stored upon receipt in accordance with the datasheet recommendations.
¡Ü What is the expiry date of my MAPTrix¢â ?
Information relating to the shelf life of any given product can be found on the product datasheet. For most products shelf life is given as 6 months from the date of despatch. Always refer to the product datasheet for the most accurate information. We are able to provide a shelf life in this format as we carefully control storage conditions of all products before shipping from our facilities.
¡Ü What concentration of MAPTrix¢â do I need to use for my experiment?
As stated on our product datasheets, supported applications may be derived from testing within our laboratories or peer-reviewed publications. Suggested dilutions may not be available for all applications. Under such circumstances please refer to the general recommendations given on all product datasheets. Concentrations are given as a guide only. It is always recommended that the user determin an optimal concentration for use in their own system using the appropriate negative/positive controls.
¡Ü Can I use my MAPTrix¢â for in vivo experiments?
Currently we have tested and therefore are not in a position to recommend any of our products for in vivo animal experiments.
¡Ü Can I use my MAPTrix¢â for in vitro experiments?
Where identified, information relating to functional activity will be included on the product datasheet. You can find it details here.
¡Ü Can I use my MAPTrix¢â for diagnostic or clinical purposes?
Current MAPTrix¢â are for research purposes only although we have developed our MAPTrix¢â for medical applications.
We do not currently offer any products certified by the FDA as IVD (or ASR), therefore all of our products sold are supplied as Research Use Only.
¡Ü Can MAPTrix¢â Technology make me an MAPTrix¢â against my target of interest?
Yes. We use proven MAPTrix¢â platform technology?to custom develop highly-specific functional mussel adhesive protein in just 4 weeks. Please refer to our website for further information.
¡Ü How was my MAPTrix¢â purified?
All MAPTrix¢â were purified through Kollodis proprietary purification process, pH precipidation & chemical digestion process. This results in E.coli derived protein free preparations of >90% purity. Some mussel adhesive protein derived peptide fragments were included (less than 5%) due to acidic cleavage, but most of the peptide frament may not affect the functionality of the mussel adhesive protein.
¡Ü What if an MAPTrix¢â does not work as expected?
We work hard to ensure that all our MAPTrix¢â perform well and consistently, and go to great lengths to make sure our datasheets are easy to read, clear and unambiguous. However, we recognize that there is always scope for improvement. In the unlikely event that you find an MAPTrix¢â not working as described on our datasheet, then please contact Technical Support.
We have a fair and objective policy for troubleshooting and our procedure is designed to provide you with the quickest possible resolution. If any MAPTrix¢â product is found to be faulty at any time during its guarantee period, we will offer you the choice of an immediate replacement or a credit note.
If you do encounter a problem with any MAPTrix¢â product please notify your local Kollodis office or distributor. If immediate troubleshooting is unsuccessful you will receive a detailed troubleshooting form for completion. This form allows us to collect all the information that is needed to make an accurate assessment of the problem.
Please complete the troubleshooting form as fully and as quickly as possible, and return it to your Kollodis contact. On some occasions it may be necessary for you to attach further details or example results on additional sheets. We are always happy to help you with any questions you may have concerning the completion of this form. The more information you can provide at the start of this process the better, as this allows us to investigate as efficiently as possible.

¡Ü Is MAPTrix¢â ECM comparable to natural ECM proteins?
Our standard test demonstrated that our mussel adhesive protein containing ECM derived peptide showed similar bioactivity to its corresponding natural ECM protein such as fibronectin, laminin, or collagen I in primary cell and human-derived mesenchymal stem cell culture.
¡Ü What are competitive advantages of MAPTrix¢â product over existing products?
Animal protein free
All our products are animal protein free as our proteins are produced in E.coli expression system while our proprietary purification system remove E.coli protein from our products.
You can save your time to create bioactive peptide modified surface for your cell culture or study. MAPTrix¢â does not require any additional chemistry to create such surface by simply applying MAPTrix¢â coating kit to your surface. More importantly, you can create your specialized extraceullular matrix environment by simple combination of each MAPTrix¢â product. For example, you can make the surface similar to natural ECM surface in terms of chemical composition by adjusting the ratio of fibronectin-, laminin-, vitronectin- or collagen-like mussel adhesive protein. All MAPTrix¢â products are water soluble and you can easily mix them together.
¡Ü How many ECM peptide is existed on a MAPTrix¢â Library?
At the present, a molecular MAPTrix-ECM is incorperated with one molecular ECM peptide. We are going on the research and the development for two equivalent peptides per one MAPTrix ¢â Library. Also, two equivalent peptides may be different each other. Our prominent MAPTrix ¢â Library will come up to you in short time.
¡Ü How much MAPTrix¢â should I use in my cell culture dishes?
The amount of MAPTrix¢â you use is up to you and your application. However, to culture cells normally on the surface of an MAPTrix¢â we routinely use 10 - 15 ug/cm2. If you want to make thick coated films, add a greater volume of MAPTrix¢â to each well. Rock the plate to cover the entire well and then pipette out the excess MMAPTrix¢â. Please refer to our product sheet for more information on how to coat plates with MAPTrix¢â.
¡Ü How can I detach cells grown on the surface of MAPTrix¢â?
You may use trypsin, dispase, collagenase or most common detachment solution to remove cells grown on the surface of MAPTrix¢â coating kit. See our Technical page for details. The choice of your detachment solution may depend on the cell line of your interest. For details, refer to our Technical page.
¡Ü Do I have to use trypsin to remove my cells from the surface of MAPTrix¢â?
No. You can use dispase, collagenase or most any common detachment solution to remove cells grown on the surface of MAPTrix¢â. See our Technical page for details.
¡Ü Is MAPTrix¢â compatible with confocal microscopy?
Yes. This material forms a transparent coated layer that allows good resolution for microscopy applications.
¡Ü Is MAPTrix¢â compatible with conventional staining and immunodetection protocols?
Yes. Cells can be stained with fluorescent dyes or immunological reagents using standard methods.
¡Ü Can I perform molecular analyses of proteins and nucleic acids using cells cultured in MAPTrix¢â coated plate?
Yes. Cells cultured in the MAPTrix¢â coated surface can be prepared for most molecular techniques. Following the cell recovery protocol, the cells can be isolated using centrifugation and then processed according to standard procedures.
¡Ü In case of staing cells, does MAPTrix ¢â Library make a back ground?
In case of trypan blue, MAPTrix¢â does not make back ground. Trypan blue stains only dead cell through pass cell membrane and does not stain live cell due to dye exclusion. Staining has no relative to MAPTrix¢â.
¡Ü Mussel adhesive protein is said being degradable. How long can it exist as a matrix when it attach in vivo?
Our in vivo study in the rat and rabbit model showed that the biodegradation begins in 3 days after its application and complete resorption in a week. We are not aware of the mechanism by which MAPTrix¢â Library undergoes degradation. Further investigation is underway and will be updated. Resoprtion rate or profile is also to be elucidated during in vivo study.
¡Ü Is MAPTrix¢â injectable?
Yes, it can be injected subcutaneously or orthotopically.
¡Ü Does MAPTrix¢â crosslink in vivo?
Yes, MAPTrix¢â is injected subcutaneously as a liquid, but the adhesive hydrogel will set up within 3 minutes in the standard protocol. Notice: The setting time is clearly depending upon the MAPTrix¢â solution concentrations and the amount of crosslinker used.
¡Ü Does MAPTrix¢â provoke any immunological or inflammatory response in vivo?
MAPTrix¢â may generate mild inflammation as a part of the body¡¯s healing response to injury even though no inflammation reaction was observed in our in vivo study. It does not seem to stimulate a significant immunological response.
